In 1933, under Decrees 449 and 1291, the Colombian Governing administration formally established the rules with the formation of gurus in the field of optometry. In 1966 La Salle College opened its to start with School of Optometry following a recommendation from a gaggle of gurus. At the moment optometrists are inspired to keep up with new systems
